Mutt Fund envisions a world in which every shelter, rescue volunteer, foster parent and adoptive family has what they need to give mutt dogs their best life.
Our Mission
To fund underserved organizations and volunteers so that mixed breed dogs can receive the health care they need, as well as optimal nutrition, play, exercise, affection, and the opportunity to be connected to their forever homes.
The Problem
Across the United States, there are thousands of dogs in need of basic care, and sometimes much more. While many organizations work hard to address these needs, the number of dogs is greater than what the system can support. As a result, there is an overpopulation crisis, and too many animals suffer, or are euthanized.
Shelters and care groups within the rescue ecosystem need more funding for general operations, special projects, and local education and awareness. Too often, providers run programs on shoestring budgets with underpaid staff and volunteers (many of whom use their own money to help meet animals’ basic needs).
It is not a lack of dedication, and we know the dogs are awesome– but we can’t alleviate the suffering without capital, infrastructure improvements and a stronger web of partnerships between organizations with varied strengths and in different locations.
